Allearth ("we", "our", or "us") is a personal safety iOS application designed to protect users in emergency situations. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Phone number (used for Firebase Authentication)
- Emergency contact names and phone numbers
- A security PIN stored locally on your device
Information collected automatically during SOS activation:
- GPS location (latitude, longitude, accuracy) — updated every 15 seconds during active alerts
- Audio recordings — captured in 30-second chunks during active alerts
- Alert session metadata — timestamp, trigger type, duration, contacts notified
Information we do not collect:
- We do not collect audio or location data outside of active SOS alerts
- Voice activation recognition is processed entirely on-device — no audio is sent to any server during standby
- We do not collect browsing history, contacts beyond what you manually enter, or any data unrelated to safety features
2. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate your account via Firebase Auth
- To send emergency SMS alerts to your designated contacts during an active SOS
- To display your live location to emergency contacts via a secure web link
- To store audio evidence in Firebase Storage for your review after an incident
- To enforce free tier limits and manage premium subscriptions via StoreKit 2
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
3. Data Storage and Retention
- Audio recordings: Stored in Firebase Storage. Free tier: 7 days. Premium: up to 90 days. Deleted automatically after the retention period.
- Location data: Stored in Firebase Realtime Database. Deleted when the alert session ends.
- Alert history: Stored in Firestore. Free tier: last 3 entries. Premium: 90-day history.
- Contact list: Stored in Firestore linked to your account. Deleted when you delete your account.
- Security PIN: Stored locally in iOS Keychain. Never transmitted.
4. Data Sharing
We share your data only as necessary to provide the service:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, cloud storage, Firestore database, Realtime Database — all data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- AWS SNS: Used to send emergency SMS messages to your contacts. Only the recipient's phone number and the message content are transmitted.
- Apple: Subscription management via StoreKit 2. Apple processes payments; we do not store payment information.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties.
5. Security
All audio recordings and location data are encrypted in transit using TLS. Audio evidence is additionally encrypted client-side using AES-GCM 256-bit encryption before upload. Your security PIN is stored in the iOS Keychain and never leaves your device.
6. Children's Privacy
Allearth is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Export your alert history and recordings
- Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

8. Data Transfers
Your data may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where Firebase and AWS operate their infrastructure. By using Allearth, you consent to this transfer.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via a notification in the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
